The "Ponte della Libertà" (Bridge of Liberty) is the only road access connecting the historic center of Venice to the mainland and Mestre. Designed by engineer Eugenio Miozzi and inaugurated in 1933 by Benito Mussolini under the name "Ponte Littorio", the viaduct took on its current name after the war, celebrating the liberation from Nazism and Fascism. Almost four kilometers long, it winds flatly over the lagoon, parallel to the pre-existing nineteenth-century railway. The structure, made of masonry and Istrian stone, today hosts two lanes per direction, tram tracks, and a cycle path with a pedestrian walkway. It represents a fundamental artery for tourist and commuter flows, translating into a suggestive straight stretch where the Venetian horizon gradually reveals itself to those arriving by car or bus in one of the most unique cities in the world.

Palladio's work, where one can note the perfect balance and harmony between the architecture and the surrounding landscape. In 1500, the site where the building stands belonged to the Valier family, while the management of the land had been entrusted by the owners to the procurators of San Marco. The procurators subsequently sold the plots of land to Federico Foscari, who died in 1527, leaving his assets to his sons Alvise, Giacomo, and Ferigo. The villa was commissioned by Nicolò and Alvise Foscari in 1555, as Giorgio Vasari also recalls in "The Lives of the Most Excellent Painters, Sculptors, and Architects," Florence 1568. Nicolò died before seeing it completed. An inscription in his memory was placed on the façade, under the tympanum: "Nicolaus et aloysius Foscari fratres Federici Filii." By the mid-17th century, the area surrounding the villa became a veritable hub, and by the 18th century, barchesse (outbuildings), stables, inns, and small houses were being built in the area. https://www.comune.mira.ve.it/vivere-il-comune/luoghi/villa-foscari-detta-la-malcontenta/

If you're traveling with bicycles, you'll need to take the car ferry from Lido-San Nicolo to Tronchetto. This runs approximately every 50 minutes. The bicycle entrance from Tronchetto to Piazza Roma is very well-designed and safe. The vaporettos to/from Lido don't carry bicycles. You can shorten the wait at a small bar on the wall of the cemetery. A single ticket costs 9.50 plus 1.50 per bicycle and ferry. The single ticket is valid for 75 minutes. This isn't enough to take all three ferries from Chioggia to Venice. The journey by bicycle on Pelestrina or Lido takes longer, so we always missed exactly one ferry. It's worth getting a multi-day ticket (25 euros for 24 hours; 35 euros for 48 hours; 45 euros for 72 hours) plus the three required bicycle tickets. This depends on how long you're staying in Venice. With the VeneziaUnica card, you can purchase all the necessary tickets for public transport and cultural visits online in advance. The card can be printed at ticket machines using a QR code or PNR code.
