October 4, 2026, Victorian Water Pump, Osmington

The Victorian Water Pump in Osmington, Dorset, is a charming cast-iron relic that offers a rare glimpse into 19th-century village life. During the mid-1800s, Osmington relied heavily on a localized water network. Fresh water was piped directly into the village from a pumping station located in the nearby neighbouring hamlet of Sutton Poyntz. To serve the local community, three public water pumps were originally erected along the village squares and roadsides. Residents would walk to these communal hubs to fetch their daily supply. Today, this particular structure is the only surviving pump of the original trio, making it a rare and historically significant landmark. Thanks to dedicated local preservation efforts, the historic artefact was beautifully restored by residents. Situated right at the start of a scenic footpath leading toward Sutton Poyntz, it stands as a proud testament to rural Victorian engineering.

October 4, 2026, St Osmund's Church

St Osmund’s Church in Osmington, Dorset, is a historic parish church with origins dating back to around 1170. Dedicated to the 11th-century Bishop of Salisbury, the building forms part of the scenic Ridgeway circuit. While extensively rebuilt between 1845 and 1846 using local stone and Ham Hill dressings, it beautifully incorporates its medieval heritage. Surviving architectural treasures include a Romanesque chancel arch from circa 1200, a restored font of the same era, and a 14th-century north arcade. Its striking two-stage west tower houses four historic bells, including one dating back to the late 14th century. The churchyard features two Grade II listed monuments, including a 1678 table tomb. Famed landscape artist John Constable even captured the church during his 1816 honeymoon in the village, cementing its place in English cultural and architectural history

The Oasis Café is your ultimate beachfront "pit stop" at Preston Beach. Forget fancy—think hearty breakfasts, fresh crab sandwiches, and epic views of the Jurassic Coast. It’s the perfect place to watch the waves crash while you tackle a massive slice of cake. Sandy paws and salty hair are definitely welcome!

November 29, 2025, Ringstead Radar Station

The Ringstead Bay Chain Home station was a crucial World War II early warning radar site in Dorset. Built in 1941, it was part of the Chain Home network that provided vital intelligence on incoming German aircraft, playing a key role in the Battle of Britain. Post-war, the site was repurposed, first as a ROTOR station during the Cold War, and later as a USAF Tropospheric scatter station. Today, the structural remains are Grade II listed, with one of the former bunkers uniquely converted into a holiday home.
