So, I headed to Tortworth Lake in Jan, on a Monday. TOTALLY wrong time!! So, I took a wander in the woods nearby. It's really pretty, but I noted that Komoot didn't have a pathway. So, I'm adding this because it's worth an explore, especially if you plan on a walk round the lake & it's closed!

**PLEASE NOTE** Entrance to the Tortworth Lake / Estate grounds is ONLY available on the FIRST SUNDAY of each month from February to the end of October!! (I wish I'd known that before this mess of a hike. In January. On a Monday πŸ™ˆπŸ€£). Opening times vary depending on the month, but it is only open on the first Sunday of each month. See photo here for the opening times (and a screenshot from the website). If you DO head here on a different day, the woodland nearby IS really stunning, so it is still worth a walk πŸ₯°βœ¨οΈ

This viewpoint is in Damery. There is an old castle earthworks in the woodland west of here. The monument is about 3km east northeast of here.

The Tyndale monument is a tower built near North Nibley in honour of William Tyndale. Tyndale was an early translator of the New Testament bible into English. The tower was constructed in 1866 and is 34m tall. It's a grade 2 listed building.

The deer are a lot less timid than in the wild, they're almost like sheep in behaviour. Wonderful views to each side of the hill... either the River Severn or the Cotswold Hills.
