Hi, roughly how far is Sasso Simone from Sella dei Sassi? I mean without climbing up 😅. Thanks!

It's the first step that our parents took us since we were little. To go on the snow or in the summer to take a walk to Sasso Simone and Simoncello. Always green, fresh. Now I come there by bike and it's always a new discovery.

The Sassi saddle is located at an altitude of 1,150 metres. This is the pass that separates Sasso di Simone and Mount Simoncello, the latter reachable with a detour that starts right from here.

Fantastic panoramic point towards Valmarecchia, Alpe della Luna and Mount Fumaiolo. To reach it you have to go up from Carpegna towards Passo Cantoniera. Just before the pass, a road starts on the left which leads slightly downhill to this panoramic point.

The Cantoniera pass goes around the Carpegna mountain massif, insinuating itself into a small saddle existing between this relief and the nearby group of Sasso Simone and Simoncello. Pass connecting the Conca and Marecchia valleys.

I liked the climb to reach Sestino (sestinese road). About 8.5 km from the provincial road, sections with an average gradient of 6-7% alternating with quiet sections at 3-4%, the right way to do a good workout and at the same time take a breather. All in a spectacular panorama!
