January 10, 2026, Mas de la Trajuanta Ruins

These are the ruins of Mas de la Trajuanta, an old, abandoned farmhouse surrounded by nature, located in the Alto Mijares region, near Figueroles (Valencia). They are situated near Figueroles, not directly in Fanzara, and are part of hiking trails in the Sierra del Alcalatén area. They appear on circular routes that start from Figueroles. One of these routes passes through several abandoned farmhouses, including Trajuanta, ending at the Santa Bárbara viewpoint after covering a few kilometers with minimal elevation changes.

More than a castle, it looks like a hermitage. It is located on a hill and therefore has wonderful views of Alto Maestrazgo.

Les Useres (Useras in Spanish) is a town located between ravines and mountains. It is famous for being a place where several mountain and cycling races take place. In addition, the town celebrates one of the oldest pilgrimages in Valencia: the Useras Pilgrims. Dating back to the 14th century, it is a tradition that twelve pilgrims and a guide walk along mountain paths until they reach the sanctuary of San Juan de Peñagolosa. The GR 33 follows this same path that takes pilgrims to the sanctuary.

It is a complex of Arab origin that was used by Christians for defensive purposes. Currently, the hermitage and the walled enclosure still exist and are in good condition.

Municipality of the Alto Maestrazgo region, in the province of Castellón (Valencian Community). The place name comes from Arabic, and refers to the Berber tribe of the Zenatas. The abundant archaeological remains of the place explain its long history, from Iberian ceramics to the Arab castle and medieval walls. The remains of the medieval walls and the castle of Adzaneta, or the Torre de la Presó, form part of its cultural heritage. The current town hall, formerly a hospital and Palace of the Commander of the Setena Culla during the 16th century, is also a historic building.

Emblematic place for the people of Atzeneta, for the two annual pilgrimages (Castell d'hiver and Castell d'estiu), and for the popular race during the August festivities, the Volta a Peu al Castell d'Atzeneta.

Also known as the Hermitage of Sant Joan Baptista, it is a site that is not well known but still has its charm. Located in a very unique environment, it also allows you to have very nice views of the entire Alto Maestrat.
