The Church of El Salvador in Granada is one of the most emblematic churches in the Albaicín district. Located in the oldest part of the Albaicín, on the site of the former Great Mosque of Granada, considered in its time one of the most beautiful in the Islamic world. The church was one of only two in Granada with the right of asylum, where the penitential garments (sambenitos) of Moriscos tried by the Inquisition were displayed.
