May 12, 2025, Pinos Puente Bridge

This bridge is of Arab origin and was strategically located at the entrance to the town to cross the ravine eroded by the Cubillas River. It was declared an architectural-artistic monument in 1922. It also contains a gate to control the entrance to the town to ensure the passage of people wishing to enter the town. It has three large horseshoe arches with spans between seven and eleven meters. Some historians have suggested that its origin may even be earlier, and that it may be Visigothic. This is not a far-fetched idea, since from the dawn of time when the first human settlements occurred in the town, it must have included a way to cross the ravine from one side to the other.

This church dates from the 17th century, and a century after its construction, the nave next to the Gospel was widened. It is a rectangular building with three naves separated by columns. It contains 17th-century sculptures and 18th-century paintings.

Looking north you can see this imposing 766 m peak, belonging to the Sierra Elvira. It is possible to reach the summit from two trails (detouring a little): from SL-A 306 Camino de Sierra Elvira or PR-A 445 Cumbres de Sierra Elvira. If you dare to this adventure, prepare good shoes - but the views will pay you for the effort.

A district of Atarfe, also called Baños de Sierra Elvira for its famous thermal baths. It is located on the slopes of the mountain range of the same name and is a good starting point to visit this beautiful place, walking along several local and short trails.
