In satellite view, I had the impression it was a very important road and definitely not to be done by bike. I passed by and it's nothing of the sort, even though it's an old national road. Today a departmental road, it's a simple 1x2 lane with traffic but no more than a standard departmental road. And the landscape is breathtaking, the view of the bay of Cerbère as you gain altitude is top, and then you have the bay on the Spanish side and it's just as beautiful!!

Nice view of the bay! Portbou, I don't find it particularly charming, at least from here, but the bay is magnificent!
