As a symbol of close cooperation between the military and academia, the aircraft was donated by the Spanish Air Force and the Ministry of Defense to the Polytechnic University of Cartagena. It is one of Spain's oldest naval bases, founded in the 18th century. Construction of the Arsenal began in late 1731 and was completed in 1782 during the reign of Charles III.
