The narrow streets of Intra-Muros, the old town of Saint-Malo, are lined with bistros, crêperies, international restaurants, boutiques, and souvenir shops. The Saint-Vincent Cathedral has artistic stained-glass windows. In contrast, the walkable ramparts offer sea views and access to Plage du Môle and Plage de Bon Secours beaches. At low tide, visitors can walk to the 1689 Fort National, located on a rock in the sea, as well as to the islands of Grand Bé and Petit Bé.

The Place de la Poissonnerie in the historic center of Saint-Malo recalls the long tradition of fishing. The centerpiece of the square is the covered fish market hall by Henri Auffret and Francis Pellerin from the post-1944 reconstruction period. Striking details include the sculpture of a small spiny dogfish at the entrance, as well as the carved fish motifs and humorous sayings on the roof beams. „La mer nous porte, la marée nous déporte, le pêcheur nous emporte, c’est ici qu’il m’apporte.“ Translation: „The sea carries us, the tide carries us away, the fisherman takes us with him, this is where he brings us.“

The Château de Saint-Malo, also known as the Château de la Duchesse Anne, is located in the heart of the old town (intra-muros). Built between the 15th and 17th centuries, it served both as a military defense and as a representative office for the Dukes of Brittany. It was further fortified under Vauban. The castle suffered damage throughout its history, including during the French Revolution and World War II, but has been restored. Today, it houses the city hall and, until 2019, was home to the Musée d'Histoire de la Ville et du Pays Malouin.

A beautiful circular trail. Absolutely not wheelchair accessible, meaning you'll have to climb up and down rocky sections for 2-3 meters at a time. The views are breathtaking.

This is a wonderful description of Fan Beach! It's a truly special place with fine sand, historic ramparts, and views of Fort National. The ability to walk to the fort at low tide is an incredible bonus. https://www.dogsounds.net

Beautiful viewpoint on the GR34 coastal path, ideal for a snack break with views in all directions along the coast - in good weather you can even see the island of Jersey on the horizon.
