Montagnac is distinguished by the presence of numerous remarkable buildings from the golden age of wine in the late 19th century: functional houses known as "vigneronnes", manor houses, urban estates, and wine-growing districts. Furthermore, its status as a city of royal fairs from the 12th century to the Revolution allowed it to endow its historic center with magnificent private mansions such as the Hôtel de Paul de Brignac, the king's representative, which houses a magnificent French painted ceiling.

This small village has assets to showcase. Do not hesitate to linger to visit its church, its old collegiate chapel converted into a media library, its well or its presbytery.

This is where the "Terroir d’Art et de Nature" route, also known as Œnorando, begins. Facing the cooperative winery, two monumental sculptures welcome the visitor: "Le Porteur" and "Les Grands Hommes". They announce the 14 works that mark the paths of the vineyard south of Montagnac. "Les Grands Hommes" features two monumental heads: Louis Pasteur and Marcellin Albert. The former marked the scientific history of wine through his work on fermentation; the latter was one of the great figures of the Midi winegrowers' revolt in 1907. Two men, two very different destinies, but the same link to the history of wine. The visitor then leaves the village to take stony paths between vines and pine forests. Over the 16 kilometers, sculptures punctuate the landscape and evoke wine, the vine, and the work of those who shape this terroir.

Perched on a promontory overlooking the Hérault valley, the Saint-Antoine hermitage seems out of time. Mentioned as early as the 17th century, this secluded place once welcomed hermits seeking isolation and spiritual life in the heart of the garrigue. Today in ruins, the chapel and its remains still tell of this austere life focused on contemplation and the surrounding landscapes.

A remarkable geological site, worthy of the fairy legend! The rock that constitutes it is a sandstone (detrital rock) with a carbonate cement and not a limestone. Differential erosion has shaped this landscape into natural basins.

The hermitage of Saint-Antoine, located in the commune of Castelnau-de-Guers, was built on a promontory overlooking the Hérault alluvial plain. The riverbed is 500 m to the west. Access to the site is facilitated by the presence of two paths that meet at its summit.

The dinosaur egg-laying sites, the red lands, the white rocks, and the Fairy's Waslijn are among the most remarkable geological sites in the municipality. The Fairy's Waslijn is worth the detour as it is an original formation of limestone rocks, deposited at the beginning of the Tertiary era, during the foldings of the Pyrenean-Provençal chain, on a continental plain episodically crossed by rivers.
