For a long time, this bridge marked the political border between the Kingdom of France (Dauphiné side) and the States of Savoy. In 1822, a border stone (stone no. 5) had been set in its center to demarcate the two territories. This historic stone has since been moved to the Place des Tilleuls in the village, where it serves as a fountain.

This is a historic site and an old artisanal tile factory located in the commune of La Balme, in Savoie. It was operated by the Fontaine family from 1860 to 1900. Its activity ceased due to the arrival of the railway, which allowed the import of lighter industrial mechanical tiles. The site produced up to 40,000 scale tiles per year in three firings. During the winter, its kiln was used to fire lime. The remains of the kiln and the plot were donated to the commune to preserve the memory of this local heritage. The site is restored and accessible all year round.
