Formerly known as the Basta site, with its forges and blast furnaces, this site housed an ice factory in 1908. Gradually, the Basta pond became known as the glacier pond. Ice block production ceased in 1963. In 1925, a sawmill provided work for local workers until 1960. Over the years, a large parking lot, a children's playground, a handicapped-accessible fishing pontoon, pétanque courts, a walk between the pond and the forest, and a picnic area under the century-old oak trees were built. This green setting, steeped in history, delights young and old alike in complete safety. Source: https://www.tourismelandes.com/patrimoine-naturel/etang-de-la-glaciere-pnaaqu040v50i228/
