There is not much to see in the small village just before the Swiss border. A striking building is the church "Église Saint-Rémy". The church of Saint-Rémy in Hégenheim was consecrated in 1780, when the parish was still part of the diocese of Basel. This church replaced the destroyed church in the middle of the current cemetery, which was then the mother church of the villages of Allschwil, Hégenheim, Bourgfelden and part of Buschwiller.

A commune on the Hégenheim - Blotzheim route. Typical charm of Alsace with half-timbered houses and non-linear main street in the village itself.

On the square in front of the church there is also a memorial with the fallen of the two world wars, as in many Alsatian communities.

From Basel, Hegenheim is one of the easiest destinations in Alsace to reach. It is a good starting point for combinations in the direction of Hagenthal-le-Bas, Buschwiller or north to Hésingue and on.

Super way to get access to the hills behind Hegenheim... a short sharp climb. Sometimes there will be some big horned beasts watching you !
