From the Col du Hantz, the route leads on the departmental road D61 and later, transitioning into the D304, into the village of Saales (formerly Saal). The route has almost no car traffic and is suitable as a beautiful, winding, scenic descent route, passing the hamlets of Le Château Saint Louis and Le Palais, both belonging to the municipality of Saint Stail, past the MAS du Centre médical, down into the village of Saal. The approximately 8 km long route leads with a slight incline 130 more meters of altitude over a length of 4 km up to the pass of Le Château Saint Louis, before the descent, which is another 4 km long, begins.

We first hiked the route along the upper slope, bringing some food and water. It was a beautiful walk, and on the way back, we made a nice stop in the village. Be sure to check the restaurant opening hours.
