The castle is open for visits in July and August The medieval castle is built on a motte, on a promontory halfway up the volcanic Puy de la Bannière. Three construction periods: 1200 Square keep (residence tower) 1300/1400 Large round philippine keep (defense tower) 1400/1450 Decorative work and construction of a Cannon Tower (surprising bossage decoration in 1/2 spheres). Chapel of Saint Anne. Major work took place in 1450 on the initiative of Antoine de la Roche; He carried out numerous embellishment works, particularly in the upper courtyard where he adorned the old original staircase tower with magnificent flamboyant Gothic decoration carved in Volvic stone. Don't forget that visiting a medieval castle helps with its restoration as a historical monument.
