The Jupiter columns or Jupiter giant columns were widespread in the Roman provinces of Germania superior and inferior as well as Gallia. (Model: the Jupiter column from Mainz). It depicts Jupiter (Roman counterpart to Zeus) riding on a monster (giant) with a thunderbolt in his hand, with snake legs (=anguipedes) in Greco-Roman mythology = Typhon. The original is displayed, among other things, with the remains of the Donon temple in the archaeological museum of Strasbourg.

We stayed here for seven days and set off on tours regularly. The typical French breakfast, featuring some regional products, along with the carmine, gave us a great start to the day every morning. Highly recommended! The owners are very friendly and welcoming.

The trail itself is fantastic, and the many bunkers, some of which have been integrated into the trail, make the walk even more interesting. On weekends, you're rarely alone here, and not even acoustically, as the nearby mountain road is often used by groups of motorcyclists.
