it is “a black pine which was grafted, in the 19th century, on a Scots pine”. At over 160 years old now, he survived the storm of December 26, 1999, earning him many nicknames.

Succeeding a small building without much interest, the current church was rebuilt in 1860 according to the plans of Grisart, architect of the Palace of Compiègne, at the instigation of the Emperor Napoleon III and the Empress Eugénie, familiar with the region with their many stays in Compiègne and Pierrefonds. In neo-Romanesque style, the church is especially worthy of its curious bell tower forming a porch, whose strongly overhanging roofs which crown each of its two floors give it the appearance of a pagoda. The second floor is covered with split chestnut essences. For the rest, it is a building of quadrangular plan consisting of a blind nave of two bays with aisles ending in a chapel and a choir with a flat apse. The interesting carved wooden way of the cross is due to P.A. Brément, parish priest of Vieux-Moulin from 1860 to 1896 (2001).

On Mont Saint Mard, in the forest of Compiègne, there is a magnificent pine tree planted around 1850. It stands more than 30 meters high and far exceeds the forest which extends at its feet. He survived a strong storm in 2007 and the ax of the loggers who, on this occasion, had to clean this part of the wood. It was not classified as a tree to be saved, but the lumberjack who marked the trees to be felled was amazed at its majestic shape and height and spared it. It overlooks the Aisne valley and can be seen for miles around. He seems to watch over the forest at his feet, and that is why he is called the Watchman. "

Attichy is a peaceful village in the Aisne valley with a history dating back to Roman times. In the Middle Ages, it was owned by influential noble families. During the First World War, it was close to the front and served as a resting place for French troops. Traces of its past are still visible in old bridges, church buildings and remains of the former castle.
