The column was erected in front of Homburg Castle in honor of the 50th anniversary of the reign of Landgrave Friedrich V Ludwig. A replica stands here in the large Tannwald forest.

Four strikingly large sandstone border pillars were erected in 1857 to mark the border of the Landgraviate of Hesse-Homburg. This one stood 350m away between HG-Gonzenheim and Ober-Eschbach. Only the border pillar at the Saalburg is still in its original location.

Beautiful panoramic route through the Kirdorfer Feld! If the visibility is good, you can also see over Mainhattan to the Odenwald.

Fantastically beautiful single trail (Weberpfad) along the Kirdorfer Bach. As for the closures for bikers: There are currently no corresponding signs at the entrances! Has the ban on cycling been lifted in the meantime? By the way, I didn't see any hikers, dog walkers, etc. here today (on a sunny Sunday afternoon) 😏

After leaving the Saalburg behind you, you have a beautiful and wide view over the Usinger Land on the right. A little later on the route, the forest opens up with a great, wide view of the Frankfurt skyline. Feldberg ahead and then it's all downhill 😄
