Steep descent. Good brakes are needed here.

This pass is pleasant to ride up the Moselle. You only have to pedal hard for the last few hundred meters. You can - and should - refresh yourself at the source of the Moselle shortly beforehand. You will be rewarded with a long, but also busy, descent into Alsace.

Yes, very funny...there's just a piece of bridge standing there.

During the Second World War, Drumont became an important centre of the resistance. Nicolas Lutenbacher, a marcaire on the Drumont farm, and his sons worked as smugglers and secret service agents. On several occasions, the farm served as a meeting point between the various leaders of the Alsatian and Vosges resistance networks. On September 21, 1944, Nicolas Lutenbacher and his family, as well as other resistance fighters, were arrested by the Gestapo, which set fire to the farm. Five of them were executed on September 24 at the Steingraben, downstream of the Bussang pass, and their bodies were dumped in a river. On October 8, eight other resistance fighters were shot at the same site, one of whom escaped alive. Four steles commemorate these events in the Drumont sector (Wikipedia).
