As am curious, am returning to the places of knowledge. Was very lucky to meet the owners of the site. The wheel dates from the 19th century. Note its square-headed bolts, just like the shutter hinges of the time. It was used to operate a wood lathe, with a workbench at the end. Just like the threshers of old, except the power was at full force with the crank. The owner offered it to museums to no avail. The two concentric circles with jams had two belts, which served as a turning speed bearing, just like a carpentry router or saw bench. See Google photo. Never give up when curiosity wins. https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tour_%C3%A0_bois#/media/Fichier:Felleries,_Le_mus%C3%A9e_des_Bois_Jolis_(9).JPG

Do not hesitate to explore the paths and small villages of our beautiful region, which still has some great surprises in store for us. As for the use of this wheel, a future course should provide an answer.

In the village of Les Grandes Magnelles in Bessines-sur-Gartempe. A cart wheel with disproportionate dimensions. We notice the axle with a large crank, the outer rim without strapping and two others, concentric, offset on the thickness. The spokes appear to be of one length. The crank intrigues, what was the use of this wheel? https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Charron_(m%C3%A9tier)

Rare to see two fountains close to each other. The most recent is very well restored. The detour is necessary.

In the town of Bersac-sur-Rivalier, in Belzanne. The first, larger with its two granite blocks, seems original, the fountain with its seats, a flat stone roof and the large basin. Its construction or its restoration are recent. The second is about ten meters away, embedded in the stone wall. It is older, smaller and may be feeding the first.
