The cave is not here, but further down the slope and can be reached via another path from the road!

Here you are about halfway to the summit of Årdalsknapen if you came up from Neset. The going gets a bit easier as you are going over a plateau. You can immerse yourself in a beautiful forest environment here, and through the trees you have a nice view of the fjord.

This is a very impressive cave formed into the side of Eiekefjell mountain. 'Tjovhola' translates into 'the thief's cave', as legend had it that thieves used it as a hideout. The opening is an impressive 15 metres wide by 12 metres high, and it goes back about 30 metres. From the entrance to the cave there is a magnificent view out over the fjord.

This path runs alongside the Kvernnhusøyane / Kvernnhusøyane river, following the water’s edge through a wide, quiet stretch of green landscape. Expect a gentle, natural feel to the route, with constant visual and sound cues from the river—good for relaxed pacing and frequent pauses to watch the current. The nearby terrain looks lightly wooded and open in places, so you get a mix of shoreline views and soft, easygoing footways.

A small, mossy wooden cabin tucked right beside a forest stream, giving a very secluded, “hidden in the trees” feel. The rocky watercourse and flowing rapids add background sound and a sense of cool, damp terrain. Great for a quiet stop—just enough shelter to rest, with natural spots nearby to pause and enjoy the stream and woodland greenery.
