On my cycling holidays, I also include visits with guided tours, unfortunately today there were none at the castle. Information at https://www.gaestefuehrer-unterschwaningen.de/. The present baroque castle was built from 1603 to 1620 under Johann Philipp Fuchs von Bimbach by the master builder Blasius Berwart d. J. Unterschwaningen experienced a special period of bloom under the Ansbach Margravines Christiane Charlotte von Württemberg (1694 - 1729) and her daughter-in-law Friederike Luise von Preußen (1714-1784), who equipped the castle with magnificent Rococo decoration and had the impressive Trinity Church built. The church, built from 1738 to 1743 by castle master builder Leopoldo Retti, is one of the most important baroque sacred buildings in the region and is visible from afar on the highest point of the town.

The rubble stone wall was started around 1332-1360. Only partially does a street run along the wall on the inside, the largest part is built up on the inside with houses reaching up to the wall.

The town of Wassertrüdingen is very beautiful. Old buildings and picturesque corners to discover. There is a great cyclist hotel where you can also eat well. Otherwise, the place is rather very quiet. We were there on a Sunday and the old town was pretty dead.

In Ornbau, we noticed crocheted lace doilies and blankets stretched across the streets. This is apparently an artistic initiative by the city following the motto "Slow Art instead of Fast Fashion"! The lace fits perfectly with the ambiance of the old town and is a striking example of how art doesn't have to be elitist, but can also come from everyday life. Many older citizens, in particular, have contributed significantly to this decoration. Great respect for such a creative community project!

Wolfram Eschenbach has apparently done a lot to preserve the city walls and their towers. It's wonderful that, in these modern and fast-moving times, investments are also being made in preserving these special buildings!
