In the old presbytery / Prespyterium behind the cathedral, there is a hostel for pilgrims and long-distance hikers. Unfortunately, we couldn't find any information about it beforehand. There are dormitories and single rooms. According to the notice on the information board, you can reserve/book at the following telephone number: +33 6 28749267. We don't know how accurate the other information / prices still are. Since we had already booked something else (Logis de France), we did not make contact.

A well-stocked organic shop where many goods can be bought without packaging. We replenished our supplies of muesli and trail mix here and bought two pieces of quiche for lunch. There is also a toilet and water to fill bottles with.

The access to the jetty is very narrow with the pillar. With a bicycle with panniers, you have to be slow and careful.

The St. Maurice Cathedral of Mirepoix, erected following the devastating flood of 1289, is a Gothic architectural gem. Inaugurated in 1298 by Jean 1st de Lévis and Constance de Foix, this cathedral impresses with the width of its single nave, the widest in France and the second in Europe.

This superb commune is part of the Aguanaguès region, better known as the Ariège plain, sometimes called the lower Ariège or the Ariège foothills. The village has, among other things, superb medieval market halls.

Mirepoix is a place well worth seeing, with a town center full of half-timbered houses with rows of shops. It's very busy when it's market day! You can see more of the beautiful houses without the market.
