The namesake of the regular school was an important figure in Kahla in the 19th century. During his lifetime, master ropemaker Johann Wilhelm Heimbürge did good deeds, and after his death, his fortune was used to establish numerous foundations. For many years, his gravestone was located in the cemetery behind St. Nicholas Church. When this was converted into a garden center, the stone was moved to Heimbürge Street, where it lost its significance. Now, the local history society and the town have taken on the gravestone and restored it with the help of diligent supporters and donors.
